Enrollment is open to residents of the Continental United States, Alaska and Hawaii, 13 years or older, who have enrolled in the First to Read Program (the “Program”).

To enroll in the Program and to access certain features of the site, you will need to register and provide personal information including, but not limited to, your name, city, state, email, and password, and accept these Program Terms. Your continued participation on the Program Site also indicates your acceptance of Penguin Random House’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Use Agreement of which it is a part. You are responsible for the accuracy of any information you provide to us and for maintaining the confidentiality of your email and password, as you will be responsible for all activity, whether authorized or unauthorized. Although Penguin may send you information about your membership and the Program by mail, most communication will take place online on the Program Site or via electronic mail.

Program Rewards may include access to advance galleys and excerpts, opportunities to participate in sweepstakes, and other member-only rewards, offers and promotions (collectively, the "Rewards"). Rewards are subject to change from time to time and may vary. For a full listing of currently available Rewards and information on how to obtain them, visit

Each Reward will be subject to terms and conditions specific to the Reward that will be provided to members in conjunction with the Reward. These terms and conditions may address such matters as the expiration date of the Reward or other requirements to use the Reward, or any other limitations or restrictions on obtaining, retaining or using the Reward. Penguin is not liable to you if a Reward expires prior to your use of the Reward or if a Reward becomes otherwise unavailable. An expired Reward will no longer be available for use or redemption.

Rewards are not exchangeable, replaceable, redeemable, or transferable for cash, credit or other Rewards under any circumstances. Penguin is not responsible for replacing lost, stolen, damaged, or expired Rewards.

Earning Points and Participation

Members may earn points by engaging on the Program Site in a number of ways, including but not limited to visiting the site, requesting advance galleys, reading excerpts or advance galleys, writing reviews, sharing content about the books featured on the site on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, and participating in surveys. Should you be selected and given access to download a galley, you are not required to review the book. However, members who participate on the site improve their chances of having access to future Rewards. If you review a book and choose to share your review on your blog or on your social media accounts, please disclose in your review that you received access to the galley for free through the First to Read Program.

Redeeming Points

Members may redeem points for any qualifying item listed on the Program Site by following the redemption procedures set forth on the Program Site. Redemption of points for qualifying items will be on a first-come-first-serve basis, as quantities may be limited.

Changes to the Program

Penguin may modify, restrict, change or discontinue the Program at any time. Changes may include, but are not limited to: the type and frequency of Rewards offered; and expanding or limiting membership eligibility. Penguin will notify members of any material changes to the Program Terms and members will be bound by such revised Program Terms.

Penguin reserves the right, in our discretion, to terminate your access to the Program and/or to remove your content from the site. If you no longer satisfy the eligibility requirements, Penguin may suspend or terminate your membership to the Program. Penguin also reserves the right to terminate the Program in its entirety or redefine eligibility without compensation to any members. If Penguin suspends or terminates your membership for any reason or terminates the Program, then you may not receive any Reward that is not fully redeemed as of the suspension or termination date.

Communication with Members

Penguin may communicate with you regarding any matter related to the Program by mail, or by electronic communications. Penguin may make electronic communications to you, including electronic mail and/or postings to the Program Site.
