In the latest in this New York Times bestselling series, matrimony and murder collide as San Francisco book-restoration expert Brooklyn Wainwright walks down the aisle...

Brooklyn has it all covered. She’s triple-checked her wedding to-do list, and everything is on track for the upcoming ceremony with the love of her life, security expert Derek Stone.

Not everyone has been as lucky in love as Brooklyn. Her old college roommates Heather and Sara lost touch twelve years ago when Sara stole Heather’s boyfriend. Brooklyn was caught in the middle and hasn’t seen her former besties since their falling-out. When they both show up at her surprise bridal shower, Brooklyn is sure drama will ensue. But she’s touched when the women seem willing to sort out their differences and gift her rare copies of The Three Musketeers and The Red Fairy Book.

Brooklyn’s prewedding calm is shattered when one of her formerly feuding friends is found murdered and Brooklyn determines that one of the rare books is a forgery. She can’t help but wonder if the victim played a part in this fraud, or if she was targeted because she discovered the scam. With a killer and con artist on the loose, Brooklyn and Derek—with the unsolicited help of their meddling mothers—must catch the culprit before their big day turns into a big mess.

Advance Galley Reviews

While I wasn't sure about the "celebrity" of a bookbinding librarian, once I got past the first chapter, I enjoyed the book. The mystery wasn't terribly exciting to me, but maybe I'm just getting jaded after so many years of reading cozies. I was interested in the main character and her relationships and banter with the other characters, and I did enjoy the wedding scene. This wasn't my favorite book from the publisher's First to Read program, but I did like the book, and I will probably keep an eye out for more from Kate Carlisle in this program.

A cozy mystery! Right what I needed on a rainy day. I found it to be a quick read, but I enjoyed it very much. Thanks for the opportunity.

A great mystery! I really enjoyed this entry to the series. The characters were well written and the story really flowed. The twists and turns kept me guessing until the end.

This is the first book in this series that I have read. The characters were easy to get to know and enough information was given to understand each character's role without doing a complete synopsis for each one. But now I really want to read the previous books. I enjoyed the book. It was a fun and light read. The banter between the characters was fun. There is a librarian/book convention, a reunion, a murder, and a wedding. The author even included some recipes for the foods and drink she included in the wedding!

A wonderful book. It is well written and the story flows smoothly from start to finish. This is the first one I have read in the series and I loved it. I will be going back to the start to see how it all started.

Only Brooklyn Wainwright would schedule three appearances at the National Librarians Association Conference the same week she is to marry Derek Stone. She is giving a presentation on Book Conservation, teaching a workshop on bookbinding and leading a Booklover’s Tour of San Francisco. Following the tour, she finds herself the guest of honor at a surprise bridal shower, where she finds herself trying to bring her two oldest friends, Heather and Sara, back together after a 12-year estrangement. Now, Brooklyn, a successful bookbinder and rare book restorer, tends to find dead bodies – a propensity that Kate Carlisle skillfully recounts in the eleven previous Bibliophile Mysteries. Unfortunately, the body she finds this time is Sara, literally buried in books in a storage facility. Brooklyn wanted to ask Sara about the rare first edition of The Three Musketeers she had gifted Brooklyn. Turns out Sara’s husband Rod, a book dealer, is looking to get the book back because he has a buyer. With murder on her mind, Brooklyn still has the rehearsal dinner and her wedding to go. And it seems others may be interested in obtaining the book – an attempt is made to break into Brooklyn’s place. Buried in Books is the 12th adventure and it’s an engaging escapade carefully crafted by Ms. Carlisle. The mystery is well conceived but the tour de force is the 15-page wedding scene. Ms. Carlisle may never be able to top this humor laced, suspense filled account. Spoiling it prevents further discussion. Fans everywhere will love it.

Fun cozy mystery. Brooklyn has an amazing life and is surrounded by amazing people who love her. She's getting ready to marry the love of her life. She just keeps stumbling over dead bodies for some reason. Okay, the setup is a little weak, but it's a fun time, which I think is the point. Not a whole lot to it, some book and San Francisco love, and I have read earlier books in the series, but I don't think you need to have done so to be entertained. I got a copy to review from First to Read.

That was a terrific mystery! It was especially enjoyable seeing the sites in San Francisco. The characters were so much fun to be around. At one point they were eating a meal and it sounded so delicious I wished I could try it. To my delight the recipe was included at the end of the book! Thank you so much! This is a great cozy series. 5 Stars! ARC Firsttoread.com

Engaging characters and story line that held my interest. While it is the twelfth book in the series, this is the first one I've read and works well as a stand alone.

Having enjoyed this series from the beginning, I read this book as soon as possible and was not disappointed. I read a lot of cozies and this one of my favorites. I even found a recipe in the back to try.

My reading choices are generally on the bazaar side or mostly non-fiction. Recently I’ve started picking up a few “cozy mysteries” and similar to add a bit more lightheartedness and reduce stress. That being said, I really enjoy the flow of her writing style and the storyline was fun. I love how easy it is to identify with the main character, Brooklyn. We live in an age where we overextend ourselves, add a big event to an already full agenda...it’s only Murphy’s Law that a murder mystery would throw a wrench into the works. As stated, the genre is a bit new for me, but this has been my favorite so far. I will be checking out the rest of the series. I received a free copy of this book from Penguin First To Read

I loved this book! This is the first book I’ve read by this author. Great storyline and plenty of action. Held my attention right from the beginning. It’s one of those books that is hard to put down. I will have to make sure to read more by this author.

I received a free copy of this book from Penguin First To Read. Love this series and this was no exception. It is a week before the wedding and somehow the to do list is complete. Just if that isn't enough Brooklyn screwed up the dates and is also doing several things at the big library convention in town including a bookbinding workshop, a lecture, and a bus tour of the city. She runs into an old roommate she hasn't seen in years and we learn about a big nasty breakup and ruined friendships. Things get uncomfortable when all parties are reunited. When one ends up dead, Brooklyn and Derek of course get involved to figure things out. Very dramatic ending. Great time for long time readers

I've read every book in this series so far and this one is as wonderful as the rest. It's another five-star read from Kate Carlisle I can't wait to see what's next for Brooklyn and Derek.
