How First to Read Works
At least once a month, First to Read will offer digital galleys of not-yet-published books to members. You can request access to a digital galley of one or more of the books on offer via entering a drawing for that galley or through redeeming your points to guarantee access. You earn points for your interaction on the site, including reading, reviewing, and sharing.
Note that quantities of digital galleys available for guaranteed access are limited, so it’s first-come-first-serve. If you enter a drawing for a galley and are not selected, you’ll have access to an early excerpt. If you share the early excerpt on Facebook or Twitter and your friends or followers become First to Read members after clicking on the link in your message, they’ll have early access to the excerpt too!
Our digital galleys are available to read on your computer, eReader, or mobile device with software that supports Adobe Digital Editions. View the list of supported devices and read our download instructions.
How do points work, both earning and redeeming them?
Members may earn points by engaging on FirsttoRead.com in a number of ways, including but not limited to visiting the site, requesting advance galleys, reading excerpts or advance galleys, writing reviews, sharing content about the books featured on the site on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, and participating in surveys. Should you be selected and given access to download a galley, you are not required to review the book. However, members who participate on the site improve their chances of having access to future Rewards.
Members may redeem points for any qualifying item listed on FirsttoRead.com by following the redemption procedures set forth on the site. For instance, when you request a galley you may be given the option to "Enter for a Chance" or to "Guarantee Request." If you have enough points to guarantee a request for a particular book, you'll be able to click this button and confirm that you want to redeem your points for guaranteed access to the galley. When you have guaranteed access to a galley, the galley will be available for download on the date noted when you submitted your request.
Note that quantities of digital galleys available for guaranteed access are limited, so it's first-come-first-serve.
